Posidón (SMyapr{al"xjw(B: significado e interpretación del epíteto en Homero

El epíteto (Smyapr{al"xjw(B ha estado siempre relacionado con el dios Posidón, aunque su significado se ha interpretado de varias formas. Este hecho es debido a que el primer término del compuesto, (Smy"aprw(B, es de dudosa etimología (a pesar de que está atestiguado desde época micénica), por lo que su traducción no es clara. En un principio, el epíteto era interpretado como 'de cabello azul' y se ha querido relacionar con la faceta de Posidón Pontio, aunque también encontramos traducciones como 'de cabello oscuro'. El objetivo de este artículo es estudiar este compuesto: los dos términos que lo forman, su uso en las obras de Homero y los significados que se han propuesto. Con esa base y a través del análisis del empleo de (Smyapr{al"xjw(B en Homero, intentaré establecer un significado para el epíteto y su adecuación al dios Posidón

(SMyapr{al"xjw(B is an epithet that always has been related to god Poseidon, but its meaning has few different interpretations. The first term of this compound word, (Smy"aprw(B, is attested from the Mycenaean period, but it has an uncertain etymology. That is the reason why this epithet gives such diverse translation. In the beginning, (Smyapr{al"xjw(B was interpreted as 'blue manned' and associated with the aspect of Posidon as the God of the sea. Sometimes this epithet is also translated as 'dark manned'. This article focuses on (Smyapr{al"xjw(B as a compound word analysing the two terms that form it and how Homer use it in their works. Later, I will expose the translations that have been proposed. Working on both aspects, I will determine a meaning for this epithet and the reason why it is associated with Poseidon
