This article presents, contextualizes and discusses significant observations of the Uruguayan ambassador to the United States of America contained in a recently found in the Historical Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay document. The same relates to the "delicate circumstances" surrounding the "Guatemala case" at a time when he was elucidating the immediate future of democracy presiding Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán, over- thrown shortly afterwards thanks to the military coup orchestrated by the

Este artículo presenta, contextualiza y discute las significativas observacio- nes del embajador uruguayo en los Estados Unidos de América contenidas en un documento recientemente hallado en el Archivo Histórico Diplomáti- co del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Uruguay. El mismo versacerca de las "delicadas circunstancias" que rodeaban al "caso Guatemala" en momentos en que se estaba dilucidando el futuro inmediato del régimen democrático que presidía Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán, derrocado muy poco tiempo después gracias al golpe militar orquestado por la CIA.
