This article approaches the question of monarchy in Carl Schmitt's thought. The topic is addressed from the point of view of political and constitutional legitimacy. Furthermore, some notions relevant to the issue under analysis, including the modern State, constituent power, identity and representation, are considered. Finally, the study focuses on its main subject, the monarchy, and Schmitt's evaluation of this form of State at the turning point of the contemporary epoch

Este artículo trata la cuestión de la monarquía en el pensamiento de Carl Schmitt. El tema es abordado desde la perspectiva de la legitimidad política y constitucional. En el transcurso de la investigación se presentan algunas nociones schmittianas, como las de Estado moderno, poder constituyente e identidad y representación, que guardan directa vinculación con la cuestión analizada. Por último, el trabajo enfoca el objetivo específico propuesto, la monarquía, e intenta determinar la valoración que hace Schmitt de esa forma de Estado ante el giro epocal contemporáneo
