The derby between Atlético-PR and Coritiba played on 1st March 2017 attracted Brazilian mass media attention because it was the first exclusive live streaming match in Brazilian football. However, despite the strong interesting of media and fans in that game, there is no paper about the impacts it could provide to the Brazilian football market. The live streaming sports have been broadcasting since several years, but the earliest papers only date around a decade ago. Moreover, there are just few papers about this issue nowadays and no one in the Brazilian context. Thus, the purpose of the present article is to introduce this topic in the Brazilian scientific literature as well as discuss some positive and negative points this broadcast platform shall affect the Brazilian football market. At the same time, the present paper aims to stimulate further researches about this issue in Brazil
O clássico entre Atlético-PR e Coritiba, realizado no dia 1º de março de 2017 pelo Campeonato Paranaense, atraiu a atenção da mídia nacional devido ao caráter inovador de ambas as equipes ao utilizar exclusivamente o streaming para transmitir a partida. Entretanto, nenhum estudo foi publicado até o momento buscando analisar os impactos que esta nova plataforma poderia proporcionar ao mercado doméstico de futebol no Brasil. Ainda que as transmissões streaming não sejam tão recentes nos esportes profissionais, as primeiras discussões científicas internacionais acerca do tema datam pouco mais de dez anos e o número de trabalhos publicados ainda é reduzido. Deste modo, o objetivo do presente estudo foi trazer o tema à literatura científica nacional, apontando que, em uma análise inicial, porém mais ampla, o streaming não apresenta apenas fatores positivos como os veículos de mídia têm apontado desde a realização daquela partida. Paralelamente aos pontos positivos e negativos apresentados, este artigo busca fomentar novas investigações sobre essa plataforma de transmissão
