This text contains two parts. The most important one is the second, where a transcription is made of a selection of the last confidential report sent by Chilean Ambassador Federico Klein Reidel to his Ministry of Foreign Af- fairs before leaving his diplomatic post in Guatemala after the coup d'etat that overthrew Guatemala's President Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán in June 1954. Six decades after those events took place, this document -which has not been published up to the present- remains outstanding. Especially note- worthy, among other aspects, is the informed content and full force of the interpretations stamped within it by this diplomat. At the end, the text is accompanied by a brief presentation by its author and a description of the circumstances under which it was conceived.
El presente texto se compone de dos partes. La más importante de ellas es la segunda, donde se transcribe una selección del último informe confidencial enviado por el embajador chileno Federico Klein Reidel a su cancilleríaantes de abandonar la representación diplomática en Guatemala luego del golpe de estado que derrocó al presidente guatemalteco Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán en junio de 1954. A seis décadas de aquellos sucesos, el documen- to -que permanece hasta hoy inédito- resulta sobresaliente. Resaltan, entre varios aspectos, su contenido informativo y la plena vigencia de las interpretaciones que el diplomático estampó en el mismo. Por último, el texto se acompaña de una breve presentación de su autor y de las circuns- tancias en las cuales fue concebido.
