In June 1626, the Spanish authorities of the Low Countries intercepted a series of letters whose destination was Poland-Lithuania. This revealed the "Conspiracy of Orleans", a plot orchestrated by Krzysztof Radziwi, one of the most powerful nobles in Lithuania who, with the support of the Protestant forces of northern Europe, tried to introduce the candidacy of Gastón de Orleans in the Next royal election in Poland. In this work we describe the details of the plot, totally unknown by Hispanic historiography - despite the role played by the Brussels court - and we present the two main documents that unveiled it
En junio de 1626, las autoridades hispanas de los Países Bajos interceptaron una serie de cartas que tenían como destino Polonia-Lituania. Se revelaba así la "Conspiración de Orleans", una trama orquestada por Krzysztof Radziwi, uno de los nobles más poderosos de Lituania quien, con el apoyo de las fuerzas protestantes del norte de Europa, trató de introducir la candidatura de Gastón de Orleans en la siguiente elección real en Polonia. En este trabajo describimos los detalles de la trama, totalmente desconocida por la historiografía hispana -a pesar del papel jugado por la corte de Bruselas- y presentamos los dos documentos principales que la desvelaron
