In this paper, we realize a presentation about the existence and characteristics of calculation instruments at pre-Hispanic America. Understanding its ways application, it is possible to identify the way in which these cultures applied techniques and algorithms related to their numeration systems. The vision of the ethnomathematics about the abacuses allows us to have a cultural glance that recognizes the plurality of mathematical constructions through the peculiarities that diverse social groups print on the same

En este artículo se realiza una presentación acerca de la existencia y características de los instrumentos de cálculo existentes en América prehispánica. A través de la comprensión de sus modos de aplicación, es posible identificar la manera en la que estas culturas aplicaban técnicas y algoritmos relacionados con los sistemas de numeración utilizados. La mirada de la etnomatemática sobre los ábacos permite tener una visión cultural que reconoce la pluralidad de las construcciones matemáticas a través de las peculiaridades que grupos sociales diversos imprimen sobre la mismas
