Within the framework of a research whose objective was to diagnose the impact of migration in Colombian transnational families, a focus group was applied in order to inquire about family and to learn which factors make easier or more difficult the adaptation of the migrant. The group was composed by eight Colombian people, heterogeneous in terms of age, gender, family and marital status, employment/academic backgrounds and motivation to migrate. The central question of the debate was the migrant's perception of the migration process and how it could be improved. This was addressed through a comparison between the Colombian and Spanish family and educational models and making suggestions of improvement. The group perceived migration as the consequence of serious problems within the Colombian society leading to a fight for survival. The family was acknowledged as the support of the process, a number of requests were made to our society and ways to reinvest in their country the earnings obtained in Spain were proposed
En el marco de una investigación, cuyo objetivo fue realizar un diagnóstico del impacto de la migración en familias transnacionales colombianas, se utilizó el grupo focal para indagar sobre la familia y conocer los factores que facilitan o dificultan la adaptación del migrante. El grupo constaba de ocho personas colombianas heterogéneas en edad, sexo, estatus familiar y laboral/académico, estado civil y motivación para emigrar. La cuestión central del debate fue cómo percibe el migrante el proceso migratorio y cómo podría mejorarse. Ésta se abordó mediante una comparación entre los modelos familiares y educativos colombiano y español, y realizando sugerencias de mejora. El grupo percibió la migración como la consecuencia de problemas graves en la sociedad colombiana que abocan a una lucha por la supervivencia. Se reconoció que la familia era la sustentadora del proceso, se hicieron peticiones a nuestra sociedad y se plantearon formas de reinvertir en su país las ganancias conseguidas en España
