The purpose of this report is to provide an approximation of the concept and practice of cultural diplomacy, and to make a concise and updated status of the question for the Spanish case. For this purpose we will define, in the first place, the theoretical scope and practicality of such expression, noting the different applications to which has been subjected. Next, we will review the historical trajectory that has travelled around Spain in this area until arriving at our days
El propósito de este informe es realizar una aproximación al concepto y ejercicio de la diplomacia cultural, y presentar de modo sucinto y actualizado el estado de la cuestión para el caso español. Para tal fin definiremos, en primer lugar, el alcance teórico y práctico de dicha expresión, constatando las diferentes aplicaciones a las que se ha visto sujeta. A continuación, revisaremos la trayectoria histórica que ha recorrido España en este ámbito hasta llegar a nuestros días. A este respecto, el Plan Nacional de Acción Cultural Exterior, presentado en abril de 2011, merecerá un análisis detenido. Por último, se examinarán las nuevas tendencias de gestión cultural, en el que la activación de alianzas público-privadas puede guiar la agenda del futuro
