Afrontamiento y síntomas de estrés postraumático en niños mexicanos después del sismo de 2017

The relationship between coping with extreme risks and symptoms of post-traumatic stress in children who experienced the earthquake in Mexico of 2017 was examined. One month after the event 178 children between 11 and 15 years of age (Mean = 12.90, SD= 1.05) from the municipality of Malinalco in the South of the State of Mexico were evaluated, with coping scales facing extreme risks and symptoms of the disorder of stress (PTSD). The results showed high scores in PTSD, especially in girls. The hypothesis of a relationship between both variables is confirmed. It is suggested to analyze the resilient ability with respect to the exposure to this type of natural disasters, and carry out follow-up studies

Se analiza la relación entre el afrontamiento frente a riesgos extremos y los síntomas de estrés postraumático en niños que experimentaron el terremoto de México del 2017. Al mes del evento fueron evaluados 178 niños/as entre 11 y 15 años de edad (Media = 12.90, DE= 1.05) del municipio de Malinalco al sur del Estado de México, con las Escalas de Afrontamiento frente a Riesgos Extremos y la Escala Infantil de Síntomas del Trastorno de Estrés Postraumático (TEPT). Lo resultados mostraron puntajes altos en TEPT especialmente en las niñas. Se confirma la hipótesis de relación entre ambas variables. Se sugiere analizar la capacidad resiliente ante la exposición de este tipo de desastres naturales, y dar un seguimiento a los mismos.
