The guerrilla experience, especially in a society as highly politicized and as hurt as that of contemporary Argentina, has sparked debates and discussions between a number of analysts and participants. One of the main issues in dispute has been the guerrilla's relationship with workers and the general population. Did they have support among the population? How were they considered by the popular sectors? Was there rejection, sympathy or indifference? A large part of the problem is that the answer necessarily implies a political positioning, and at the same time, it lacks an amount of empirical data that will allow for further discussion. Thus, the issue of the relationship between an organization and the masses is very complicated to discuss. The research presented here is based on traditional written sources and on interviews with workers and neighbors in five areas where the PRT carried out "mass work"
La experiencia guerrillera, sobre todo en una sociedad tan altamente politizada y tan herida como la de la Argentina contemporánea, ha suscitado debates y discusiones de un número de analistas y de participantes. Uno de los principales temas en disputa ha sido la relación de la guerrilla con el conjunto de los trabajadores y el pueblo argentino. Tenían apoyo entre la población? Cómo eran considerados por los sectores populares? Había rechazo, simpatía o indiferencia? Gran parte del problema estriba en que la respuesta necesariamente implica un posicionamiento político y, al mismo tiempo, carece de una cantidad de datos empíricos que permitan avanzar en la discusión. Así, el tema de la relación entre una organización y las masas es uno de los más complejos a discutir. La investigación que aquí se presenta se basa en las tradicionales fuentes escritas y también en entrevistas con trabajadores y vecinos en cinco áreas donde el PRT realizaba "trabajo de masas"
