Diez años de acciones colectivas en Costa Rica

This article analyses the main tendencies in collective actions of social protest in Costa Rica, for the period 1995-2004. By analyzing the repertoire of collective actions, the social actors involved, the demands, as well as the reactions reported by the newspapers La Nación and Extra, the most important conflicts in Costa Rican society during the period are exposed. The article argues that mythic construction of protest, repression and silence are the principal reactions in the conflict

En el artículo se analizan las principales tendencias de la acción colectiva de protesta social en Costa Rica, en el periodo 1995-2004. Mediante el análisis del repertorio de las acciones colectivas, de los actores involucrados, las demandas y las respuestas reportadas por La Nación y Diario Extra, se exponen los principales conflictos de la sociedad costarricense en dicho periodo. El artículo argumenta que la construcción mítica de la protesta, la represión y el silencio forman parte de las principales respuestas brindadas al conflicto
