Actitudes ante la lengua en...
Despite the fact that during recent years historical sociolinguistics have been engaged in shedding light on the attitudes of language regarding various types of texts (the press, literature, private letters, etc..), there is not much difference among the methodologies delving into the context of theories such as "discursive traditions". Likewise, there are few incursions upon the universe of beliefs made by the grammarians as they put pen to paper with regard to the linguistic system and which may have had an influence on the composition of their treatises. For this reason, this paper proposes the need to revise the opinions that some eighteenth-century grammarians may have conveyed on the written Spanish language, so as to methodologically organise the importance of this entity of thought in the linguistic writings of this particular period, as well as to determine their influence on linguistic evolution. In order to determine the role that a grammarian could have played in structural standardisation, it is also necessary to emphasise the importance of schooling and academic commitments viewed by society of the period and the newly formed Institution that would stand guard over the use of language - the Royal Spanish Academy
A pesar de que la Sociolingüística histórica se viene ocupando en estos últimos años de delimitar el estudio de las actitudes sobre la lengua en torno a diferentes tipos de textos (prensa, literatura, cartas privadas...), pocas son las distinciones metodológicas que se llevan a cabo en el contexto de teorías como las 'tradiciones discursivas'. De la misma manera, existen escasas incursiones en el universo de creencias que los gramáticos tenían a la hora de elaborar sus escritos sobre el sistema lingüístico, y que podrían influir en la composición de sus tratados. Por esta razón, en este estudio, planteamos la necesidad de revisar las opiniones que algunos gramáticos del siglo XVIII dejaban entrever sobre la lengua española en sus textos, con objeto de ordenar metodológicamente la importancia de este ente de pensamiento en los escritos lingüísticos de ese periodo, así como determinar su influencia en el cambio lingüístico. Para delimitar el papel que el gramático pudo desempeñar en los trasiegos normativos, se hace necesario igualmente destacar el lugar en el que le situaba la sociedad de ese periodo puesto en foco respecto de los compromisos escolares y académicos, y respecto de esa Institución recién creada que velaría por el cuidado de la lengua, la Real Academia
