Football as the symbolic arena of society allows us to observe emotional dimensions of human passions that are not usually ex-pressed in other areas of everyday life. Hence the value of track-ing down those events that seem plainly everyday but that reveal the social and political perspectives of a community, for this case, the collectivity available to Colombian society and its vicissitudes.In the present text, I start from the successful performance of the Colombian national team in the Football World Cup Brazil 2014, sporting event in which I observed strong expressions of Colombian nationalism, as rarely it happens in a country lacking consolidated national references. I pretend to reveal through eth-nographic notes and a sporting spectacle such as the FIFA World Cup, the national feeling that in an exacerbated way awoke the Colombian national football team among its national community. Emotions and sports passions that from the sense of belonging to a social group and in a kind of spell between politics, market and mass media managed to snatch the breath of many fellow citizens and combine them under a single shirt
El fútbol como arena simbólica de la sociedad nos permite observar dimensiones emocionales de las pasiones humanas que no suelen expresarse en otros ámbitos de la cotidianidad. De ahí el valor por rastrear esos sucesos que parecen llanamente cotidianos pero que revelan perspectivas sociales y políticas de una comunidad, para este caso, la colectividad que dispone la sociedad colombiana y sus avatares. En el presente texto parto de la exitosa actuación del seleccionado nacional colombiano en el Mundial de fútbol Brasil 2014, gesta deportiva en la cual se observaron fuertes expresiones del nacionalismo colombiano, como pocas veces sucede en un país carente de referentes de nacionalidad consolidados. Pretendo revelar a través de notas etnográficas y un espectáculo deportivo como el campeonato Mundial de fútbol de la FIFA, el sentimiento nacional que manera exacerbada despertó el seleccionado colombiano de fútbol entre su comunidad nacional. Emociones y pasiones deportivas que desde el sentido de pertenencia a un grupo social y en una suerte de conjuro entre la política, mercado y medios de comunicación, lograron arrebatar el aliento a muchos conciudadanos y conjugarlos bajo una sola camiseta
