Jorge Guillén's anthropological question - "Is being a man being on the road?" - raises the existential dilemma of the human being as a fragmented subject, constantly looking for their own identity. The poet from Valladolid, who can be considered one of the most brilliant members of the Generación del 27, tells the tragic experience of Franco's dictatorship and the exile. His poems describe a feeling of helplessness and exclusion, which is present in most of the verses of Clamor. The deep meaning that lies beneath Guillén's ontological question, which emphasizes the semantic opposition of the two verbs, can be found in the innermost essence of the human being, who is constantly divided between the stable and unchangeable condition of their status of an eternal traveller. This is related to a precarious and changeable existence, subjected to the rules-no-rules of chance
El interrogante antropológico del exiliado Jorge Guillén - "Ser hombre es estar de viaje?" - plantea el dilema existencial de ese sujeto escindido que es el ser humano, en busca constante de la propia identidad. El poeta vallisoletano, uno de los representantes más ilustres de la Generación del 27, cuenta la trágica experiencia de la dictadura franquista y del consiguiente destierro; sus poemas describen un sentimiento de desamparo y de exclusión, que se destaca en la mayoría de los versos de Clamor. El hondo sentido que se esconde detrás de la pregunta ontológica guilleniana, en la que se destaca la oposición semántica de los dos verbos elegidos, se puede buscar en la íntima esencia del ser humano, constantemente dividido entre el "ser", estable e inmudable, y el "estar" de su condición de eterno viajero, vinculado a una existencia precaria y mudable, sujeta a las reglas-no-reglas del azar.
