África fronteras: muros frente amenazas

The construction of physical barriers along borders has been a constant throughout the History. Contemporary walls have other purposes (immigration, counterterrorism, control of diseases and/or pests,...). More than 30 new walls have been raised after September 11th; 15 of them during current year. There exist several doubts about its usefulness and some people consider them more as temporary solution, more oriented to domestic public opinion that as useful tools for international relations. However... are they really effective?

La construcción de obstáculos físicos a lo largo de las fronteras ha sido una constante a lo largo de la historia. Las murallas contemporáneas tienen otras finalidades (control de inmigración, contraterrorismo, control de enfermedades/plagas...). Más de 30 nuevos muros se han levantado después del 11-¬‐S, 15 de ellos en el presente año. Muchos ponen en duda su utilidad y los consideran más una solución temporal, orientada hacia la propia opinión pública, que unas herramientas útiles para las relaciones internacionales. Pero, son realmente eficaces?
