In this article we analyse Roberto Bolaño's novel Los detectives salvajes, based on the exiled condition of its main characters. We trace Bolaño's ethical and aesthetical responses to this exile, taking into account Zygmunt Bauman's theories, and we observe how in the novel Bolaño goes beyond the cynicism, hedonism or nihilism that could emerge when the utopias aimed to achieve the social change vanish
En el presente artículo se analiza la novela de Roberto Bolaño, Los detectives salvajes, a partir de la condición de exiliados de sus protagonistas. Se rastrean las propuestas éticas y estéticas de Bolaño con respecto al exilio a la luz de las teorías de Zygmunt Bauman, y se observa cómo en la novela Bolaño va más allá del cinismo, el hedonismo o el nihilismo que pueden surgir cuando las utopías encaminadas al cambio social se desvanecen
