Abstract Based on the Textual-Interactive Grammar (TIG), we investigate the construction "(eu só) sei que" in its function of Discourse Marker (DM) acting in the textual organization. Based on data collected from speech samples of Brazilian Portuguese variety, we identify five textual functions of DM: topic closing; intratopic sequencing; topic sequencing; topic opening and basically sequencer + secondarily modal. We conclude that these five functions can compound to a path of linguistic change, via abstraction of uses, having as terminal focal point the DM functions
Resumo Com base na Gramática Textual-Interativa (GTI), investigamos a construção "(eu só) sei que" na função de Marcador Discursivo (MD) atuante na organização textual. Partindo de dados coletados em amostras de fala de uma variedade do português brasileiro, identificamos cinco funções textuais do MD: fechamento de tópico; sequenciamento intratópico; sequenciamento de tópico; abertura de tópico e basicamente sequenciador + secundariamente modal. Concluímos que essas cinco funções podem compor uma trajetória de mudança linguística, via abstratização de usos, tendo como ponto focal terminal as funções de MD
Resumen Basados en la Gramática Textual-Interactiva (GTI), investigamos la construcción "(eu só) sei que" en la función de Marcador Discursivo (MD) actuante en la organización textual. Desde datos recogidos de muestras de habla de una variedad del portugués brasileño, identificamos cinco funciones textuales del MD: cierre de tópico; secuenciación intratópica; secuenciación de tópico; apertura de tópico y básicamente secuenciador + secundariamente modal. Concluimos que esas cinco funciones pueden componer una trayectoria de cambio lingüístico, vía abstractización de usos, tiendo como punto focal terminal las funciones de MD
