We evaluated the probiotic activity of Saccharomyces cerevisiae on production and health parameters of 240 Ross 308 chickens from the fifteen days old, with an average weight of 273.84 g were randomly divided into four treatments: control and three levels of probiotic: T1 = 0 g, T2 = 1 g, 2 g T3 = T4 = 3 g of S. cerevisiae added per kg of food, isoenergetic diets that were isocaloric and provided in three phases: from day 15 to 28, day 29 to 35 and day 36 to 42, when they were slaughtered. From the fifth week, significant differences (P <0.05) between treatment four and the remaining treatments in live weight, weight gain partial and cumulative weight gain. There were no significant differences (P> 0.05) on feed intake, feed conversion and mortality among treatments. We conclude that the inclusion of 3 g kg of S. cerevisiae kg-1 diet significantly improved weight gain in Ross 308 chickens
Se evaluó la actividad probiótica de Saccharomyces cerevisiae sobre parámetros productivos y de salud de 240 pollos Ross 308 desde los quince días de edad, con un peso promedio de 273.84 g, distribuidos aleatoriamente en cuatro tratamientos: testigo y tres cantidades de probiótico: T0= 0 g , T1=1 g, T2= 2 g y T3= 3 g de S. cerevisiae adicionados por kg de alimento, se suministraron dietas isocalóricas e isoenergéticas en tres fases en función de la edad de las aves: del día 15 al 28, del 29 al 35 y del 36 al 42 o sacrificio. De la semana cinco en delante se observó diferencias significativas (P<0.05) entre tratamientos, en donde T3 mostró mejor peso vivo, ganancia de peso parcial y ganancia de peso acumulada. No se registraron diferencias significativas (P>0.05) en el consumo de alimento, conversión alimenticia y mortalidad entre tratamientos. Se concluye que la inclusión de 3 g S. cerevisiae kg-1 de alimento mejora significativamente la ganancia de peso en pollos Ross 308
