Festa bitxi-bitxi hau urtero ospatzen da Vianan, otsailaren 1ean, San Felizesen omenez. 1219. urtean, aipatu egunean jarri zen hiri ospetsuaren lehen harria Gaztelako mugan, Nafarroako erresuma babestearren, Nafarroako Antso Azkarraren nahiari jarraikiz. San Felizes atean egin zen ospakizuna, harresien mendebaldean den horretan. Nabarmentzeko lekua da hori, epaiketak bertan egiten baitziren, Foruaren arabera. San Felizes egunean, danborra joz biltzen zituzten ate zaharrean haur eta behartsuak, gertakariaz oroit zitezen, eta errejidoreek txanpon batzuk ematen zizkieten mezatik ateratakoan. Ohiturak oso zaharra behar du, xvi . mendean ospatzen baitzen ditugun agirien arabera, eta guganaino iritsi baita, nahiz eta etenak izan
The most original festivity that takes place every year in Viana the 1st of February, is dedicated to St. Felices. That very day in 1219, the foundation stone was laid in what became a famous town on the border with Castille, founded by Sancho the Strong of Navarre. The place where such event happened was St. Felices Gate, in the West of the fortified precinct. That was considered an honourable site, since trials were conducted in there according to the Fuero Law. In St. Felices' Day children and the poor used to be called together by a drum and given a coin by the authorities after religious service, so they would remember the festivity. This is thought to be an ancien tradition, as it has been proved that it has been done since the 16th century, with some interruptions throughout the years
La fiesta más original que todos los años se celebra en Viana, el 1 de febrero, es la dedicada a san Felices. Tal día, en el año 1219, se puso la primera piedra en la villa fundada por deseo de Sancho el Fuerte de Navarra, en la frontera frente a Castilla para defender el reino de Navarra. El lugar en donde se llevó a cabo tal hecho fue el portal de San Felices, oeste del recinto fortificado, solar venerable pues aquí se celebraban los juicios, según el Fuero. El día de San Felices, para que los niños y pobres pudieran re - cordar el acontecimiento, los congregaban con sonido de tambor en el histórico portal, y los regidores les entregaban unas monedas a la salida de la misa. La costumbre debe de ser antiquísima, documentalmente se comprueba desde el siglo xvi , y ha llegado con diversas interrupciones hasta nuestros días
