Given the relevance of the history of economic thought to the training of economists in the history of their science, we propose to show how textbooks on the history of economic thought have taught (and investigated) the work of Adam Smith and, in particular, what impact has the "disciplinarization" of the history of economic thought in the re-reading of an aspect of his work that today is not usually common to conventional economic science research : The linkage of the Smithian Political Economy with the general field of philosophical knowledge in which this author worked. We will show how this topic has lost weight in the historiography of economic thought (especially in textbooks), which have given greater importance to other aspects of Adam Smith's work (mainly economic, that is to say, related to The Wealth of Nations) closer to the uses and customs of 20th century economic science. We believe that highlighting the relevance of the study of this problem can contribute not only to a better understanding of the work of Adam Smith but also to a more complete teaching of this
Habida cuenta de la relevancia que los libros de texto de historia del pensamiento económico tienen en la formación de los economistas en la historia de su ciencia, nos proponemos exponer de qué modo los libros de texto de historia del pensamiento económico han enseñado (e investigado sobre) la obra de Adam Smith y, en particular, qué impacto ha tenido la "disciplinarización" de la historia del pensamiento económico en la relectura de un aspecto de su obra que hoy por lo general no es común a las investigaciones de la ciencia económica convencional: la ligazón conceptual de la Economía Política smithiana con el campo general de conocimientos filosóficos en el que trabajó este autor. Mostraremos cómo este tema ha perdido peso en la historiografía del pensamiento económico (especialmente de los libros de texto), que le han asignado mayor importancia a otros aspectos de la obra de Adam Smith (principalmente económica, es decir, de La Riqueza de las Naciones) más próximos a los usos y costumbres de la ciencia económica del siglo XX. Consideramos que destacar el relego del estudio de este problema puede contribuir no solo a un mejor entendimiento de la obra de Adam Smith sino, asimismo, a una enseñanza más completa de esta
