Around the middle of the 19th century a big debate on the conveniente or not to reform orthography according to phonetic or "philosophic" criteria adapted to pronunciation, with the aim to make learning and the spread of the written language easier, was opened. These reforming proposals were developed at the same time as those by Bello and Sarmiento in some Latin American countries and coincide in time with the establishment of the orthography introduced by the RAE. Along with these innovative limes, the Academia Literaria y Científica (Literay and Scientific Academy) of teachers of primary and higher education of Madrid, put it into practice in schools. The system of these "neógrafos" deseribed in the Diccionario nacional (1846-47), by R. J. Domínguez, in different entries, where some of his proposals are assessed, aceepted and applied
A mediados del siglo XIX estaba abierto un gran debate en torno a la conveniencia o no de reformar la ortografía según criterios fonéticos o "filosóficos" adaptados a la pronunciación, con el fin de facilitar el aprendizaje y la extensión de la lengua escrita. Estas propuestas reformistas se desarrollan al mismo tiempo que las de Bello y Sarmiento en de algunos países hispanoamericanos y coinciden con la oficialización de la ortografía de la RAE. En esta corriente innovadora, la Academia Literaria y Científica de profesores de instrucción primaria elemental y superior de Madrid, fundada en 1843, aboga por la reforma de ortografía fonética y comienza a practicarla en las escuelas. El sistema de estos neógrafos aparece descrito en el Diccionario nacional (1846-47) de R. J. Domínguez, en diversas entradas donde se valoran, aceptan y aplican algunas de sus propuestas
