El soberano trabajador: una discusión con la filosofía social y política del trabajo de Axel Honneth

This paper engages into a critical dialogue with the normative proposal that Axel Honneth displays in his last book, The working sovereign, which means a groundbreaking contribution in the field of contemporary social theory. First, I address the main claims contained in the book, which draw to a reformulation of work and the intertwinement between workspace, the social and political division of labor and social furtherance of democracy. Second, I highlight some blind spots of Honneth's enquiry, which mostly refer to a limited knowledge of classical sources about the political purview of work and of the state-of-art of current lines of philosophy of work developed in South Europe and Latin America. Third, I raise some demurs related to the material sources of social reciprocity, the disavowal of universal basic income and the narrow geographical and social patterns appearing in Honneth's appraisal of the social value of work

Este artículo establece un diálogo crítico con la propuesta normativa que Axel Honneth despliega en su último libro, El soberano trabajador, que representa una contribución innovadora al campo de la teoría social contemporánea. En primer lugar, planteo las principales tesis contenidas en el ensayo, que remiten a una reformulación del trabajo y al entrelazamiento entre espacio laboral, la división social y política del trabajo y el fomento social de la democracia. En segundo lugar, subrayo algunos puntos ciegos de la investigación de Honneth, que se refieren a un conocimiento limitado de las fuentes clásicas sobre el alcance político del trabajo y el estado del arte de líneas actuales de filosofía del trabajo desarrolladas en el Sur de Europa y América Latina. En tercer lugar, planteo algunas objeciones concernientes a las fuentes materiales de la reciprocidad social, al rechazo de la renta básica universal y a las coordenadas geográficas y sociales estrechas que aparecen en la valoración de Honneth acerca del valor social del trabajo
