El siglo XIX se caracteriza por la innovación en el léxico y la divulgación y corrección lingüísticas. En todo ello, la prensa ejerce un gran influjo, pues se establece como círculo de difusión y discusión de las ideas lingüísticas y como puerta de entrada y de extensión de nuevos usos lingüísticos. Esta innovación se recibe en muchas ocasiones como barbarismos y como faltas a la pureza del castellano, sobre todo aquellas transferencias de origen francés. Así, el objetivo principal de este artículo es estudiar algunos debates mantenidos en prensa española de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX sobre el origen, uso, crítica y codificación (lexicográfica) de tres galicismos de origen verbal: debutar, batirse y ocuparse de. Este análisis se llevará a cabo a partir de un corpus construido ex professo, cuyos casos se cotejarán con fuentes lingüísticas contemporáneas. Con ello, pretendemos acercarnos a comprender el influjo y recepción del (anti)galicismo en la conformación de la lengua estándar y, en suma, a completar la historia del pensamiento lingüístico
The 19th century was characterized by innovation in lexicon as well as linguistic dissemination and correction. The press exerted a great influence, as it was established as a circle for the discussion of linguistic ideas and as a gateway for the entry and spread of new linguistic uses. This innovation is often received as barbarisms and breaches of the purity of Spanish, especially borrowings from French. Therefore, the main aim of this article is to study some debates held in the Spanish press in the second half of the 19th century on the origin, use, criticism and codification of three Gallicisms of verbal origin: debutar, batirse and ocuparse de. This analysis will be carried out on the basis of a corpus constructed ex professo, whose cases will be compared with contemporary linguistic sources. In short, we intend to come closer to understanding the influence and reception of (anti)Gallicism in the shaping of the standard language and to completing the history of linguistic thought
