The objective of this work is to evaluate the curricula of the Probability and Statistics course within Civil Engineering programs at various public universities in Mexico, and to apply an assessment instrument designed to identify the difficulty level of items in order to gauge the knowledge acquired. Three lines of action were considered: first, an analysis of the course curriculum was conducted at institutions offering the program; then, a panel of experts in the field designed an assessment instrument for basic knowledge; finally, a questionnaire was administered to a sample of 49 third-semester students in the Civil Engineering program at FES Acatlán. The exam consists of 13 questions selected from a broad set of items. A statistical analysis of the selected items was conducted using the J Metrik program to identify difficulty and discrimination indices. The study concludes that the items were mostly difficult with adequate discrimination, which can be attributed to the extensive curriculum and the limited number of hours per semester. Therefore, this research is relevant as it suggests the need to reduce the number of thematic blocks and to create a second part of the course
Este trabajo tiene por objetivo evaluar planes de estudio de la asignatura probabilidad y estadística de Ingeniería Civil en distintas facultades públicas en México y la aplicación de un instrumento de evaluación que identifique el grado de dificultad de ítems con el fin de conocer el nivel de conocimientos adquiridos. Se contempló tres líneas de acción: primero se realizó un análisis del currículo de la materia en instituciones que imparten la carrera; luego un panel de expertos en el área diseñó un instrumento de evaluación de conocimientos básicos; por último, se aplicó un cuestionario a una muestra de 49 estudiantes de tercer semestre de la carrera en la FES Acatlán. El examen consta de 13 preguntas seleccionadas de un amplio conjunto de ítems. A los ítems seleccionados se les realizó un análisis estadístico edumétrico utilizando el programa J Metrik para identificar los índices de dificultad y discriminación. Se concluye que los ítems resultaron ser en su mayoría difíciles con discriminación adecuada. Debido al extenso programa de la asignatura y al bajo número de horas al semestre. Por ello esta investigación es relevante ya que se debe disminuir el número de bloques temáticos y crear una segunda parte de la materia
