De Eros y Civilización (Mar...
The article begins by briefly explaining Freud's interpretation of the discontent accompanying civilization, and then describes in greater detail Herbert Marcuse's correction to it, by means of a social-historical analysis of psychoanalytic principles and the political implications of metapsychology. It mainly analyzes Eros and civilization, but also the later works of this philosopher, in which he qualifies the conclusions and alternatives that he presented in his 1955 book. Next the article discovers interesting similarities with Byung Chul Han's analysis of the "performance society" of our 21st century, which, despite having changed its masks, preserves and intensifies much of the cultural "malaises" denounced by Marcuse, particularly, the agony of Eros and, with it, that of philosophy, but at the cost of what? This work concludes by inviting the reader to think about the dangers arising from this situation
El artículo comienza exponiendo a grandes rasgos la interpretación freudiana del malestar que conlleva la civilización para, seguidamente, describir con mayor detalle la corrección de Herbert Marcuse a la misma, ayudándose del análisis histórico-social de los principios psicoanalíticos y de las implicaciones políticas de la metapsicología. Analiza principalmente Eros y civilización, pero también las obras posteriores de este filósofo, en las que matiza las conclusiones y alternativas que expuso en su libro de 1955. El artículo descubre posteriormente interesantes similitudes con los análisis de Byung Chul Han de la "sociedad del rendimiento" de nuestro siglo XXI que, a pesar de haber cambiado de máscaras, conserva e intensifica gran parte de los "malestares" culturales denunciados por Marcuse, particularmente, la agonía de Eros y, con él, la de la filo-sofía, pero a costa de qué? Concluye invitando al lector a pensar los peligros que surgen de esta situación
