"On this site you will find the manuscripts that record Charles Darwin's work as a practicing scientist. Whether you are a student or a researcher, our goal is to offer you digital access to the primary evidence for the birth and maturation of Darwin's attempts to explore and explain the natural world."
"The AMNH Darwin Manuscripts Project is a historical and textual edition of Charles Darwin's scientific manuscripts, designed from its inception as an online project. The database at its core - DARBASE - catalogues some 45,000 Darwin scientific manuscripts."
"The Darwin Manuscripts Project was founded in 2003 at Drew University to create Charles Darwin's Scientific Manuscripts, an online historical and textual edition of the large body of manuscripts that document Charles Darwin's life's work as a scientist. Since 2006 DMP has been hosted at the American Museum of Natural History. In 2009 a collaboration was begun with Cambridge University Library for DMP to enhance and help maintain the CUL Darwin Manuscripts Catalogue and in 2010 another collaboration was established with CUL, Natural History Museum (London) and the Biodiversity Heritage Library to digitise & publish Charles Darwin's Library as a BHL collection. The DMP edition is the heir to the treatment of Darwin manuscripts developed in 1980 by the Committee for the Publication of Charles Darwin's Notebooks."--The "about" page at http://darwin.amnh.org
