Is life a series of infinite repetitions or is it a series of ruptures? In response, this article discusses the esthetics that Borges constructs in his story "The Immortal". That existence is like a circle wherein the innovative actions are not feasible, Borges proposes the impossibility of human transcendence, and berates all human progress and indiviudal contributions as simply inevitable repetitions. Es la vida una serie de repeticiones infinitas o de rupturas? Como respuesta, este artículo pretende disertar sobre el tratamiento estético que Jorge Luis Borges plantea en el cuento “El inmortal”. Se establece la existencia como un círculo donde las acciones innovadoras no son factibles, Borges propone la imposibilidad humana de trascender realmente, las aportaciones se consideran como inevitables, ‘alguien’ las haría de cualquier modo.
