This research aims to investigate the variation of the existential verbs ter and haver to verify if the variant ter is being used in the written modality and, more specifically, in which textual-discursive genres its use is more frequent. The foundations of Weinreich's Theory of Variation and Linguistic Change were used in this investigation; Labov; Herzog (2006 [1968]) and Labov (2008 [1972]). This study analyzed a corpus of the newspaper A Gazeta, with texts taken from the textual-discursive genres of editorial, chronicle, security news, letter from the reader and social column. The analyzes took place through a quantitative treatment, using the GoldVarb X statistical program (SANKOFF, TAGLIAMONTE, SMITH, 2005). The results demonstrate that the use of existential ter, already established in the spoken language, occurs in very specific contexts and is conditioned by some linguistic factors related to the textual-discursive genre, verbal time and semantic specificity of the internal argument
Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo investigar a variação dos verbos existenciais ter e haver para verificar se a variante ter está sendo utilizada na modalidade escrita e, mais especificamente, em quais gêneros textuais-discursivos seu uso é mais recorrente. Foram utilizados nesta investigação os fundamentos da Teoria da Variação e Mudança Linguística, de Weinreich; Labov; Herzog (2006 [1968]) e Labov (2008 [1972]). Este estudo analisou um corpus do jornal A Gazeta, com textos retirados dos gêneros textuais-discursivos editorial, crônica, notícia de segurança, carta do leitor e coluna social. As análises ocorreram por meio de um tratamento quantitativo, utilizando o programa estatístico GoldVarb X (SANKOFF; TAGLIAMONTE; SMITH, 2005). Os resultados demonstram que o uso de ter existencial, já consagrado na língua falada, ocorre em contextos bem específicos e condicionado por alguns fatores linguísticos relacionados ao gênero textual-discursivo, ao tempo verbal e à especificidade semântica do argumento interno
Este estudio tiene como objetivo investigar la variación de los verbos existenciales ter y haver para verificar si la variante ter se está utilizando en la modalidad escrita y, más específicamente, en qué géneros textual-discursivos su uso es más frecuente. En esta investigación se utilizaron los fundamentos de la teoría de la variación y el cambio lingüístico de Weinreich; Labov; Herzog (2006 [1968]) y Labov (2008 [1972]). Este estudio analizó un corpus del diario A Gazeta, con textos tomados de los géneros textual-discursivo editorial, crónica, noticias de seguridad, carta del lector y columna social. Los análisis se realizaron mediante un tratamiento cuantitativo, utilizando el programa estadístico GoldVarb X (SANKOFF, TAGLIAMONTE, SMITH, 2005). Los resultados demuestran que el uso del ter existencial, ya establecido en la lengua hablada, se da en contextos muy específicos y está condicionado por algunos factores lingüísticos relacionados con el género textual-discursivo, el tiempo verbal y la especificidad semántica del argumento interno
