This paper aims to show the significant aspects and meanings of social representations of recycling. The research was conducted with 28 students, ages from fifteen to seventeen years old, in Jupi - PE, Brazil. It was used the technique of free association. Five invocations were requested, followed by an invocation considered the most important justification for the theme which inducing recycling. Two significant aspects were found (I) recyclable paper (85,72%) represented by cardboard, trash, bottles, plastics, metal and glass. The recurrences: the paper appears in order to be recycled, with the purpose to prevent the falling of forests, as well as their utility, source of financial maintenance for the family. Besides, the cardboard is important for games. Trash is useful for formation of new objects, suitable target, being recycled, contributing to the environment, recycled bottles and formation of objects; plastic in the sense of hard decay and usefulness. Glass and metal appear to the processing of useful objects. (II) the importance of recycling (14.28%), being registered the evocations: survival , man, help, preserve. From the importance of recycling, man has become a being perceived in terms of awareness for the preservation of nature than that give to man; survival, recycling for the survival of food, this helps in the sense that human beings need help the environment. Preserving comes in order to protect and not destroy nature so that does not give a return. It is concluded that there is an incorporation of circulating discourse about the importance of recycling in terms of benefits it can give as the construction of material objects for everyday life and as a source of income, for the protection of the environment, nature. This recycling must be transformed into social experience
Este texto objetiva mostrar aspectos significantes e sentidos das representações sociais de reciclagem. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida com 28 discentes, na faixa etária de quinze a dezessete anos, Programa Projovem Adolescente, em Jupi-PE, Brasil. Usou-se a técnica de associação livre de palavras. Foram solicitadas cinco evocações, seguidas da evocação mais importante com justificativa para o tema indutor reciclagem. Os dois aspectos significantes encontrados: (I) materiais recicláveis (85,72%) representados por papel, papelão, lixo, garrafas, plásticos, metal, e vidro. As recorrências: o papel deve de ser reciclado, com fins de evitar a derrubada das florestas, bem como da sua utilidade, fonte de manutenção financeira para a família. O papelão importante para confecção de jogos, brinquedos. Lixo útil para formação de novos objetos, destino adequado, reciclado, contribuindo para o meio ambiente. As garrafas, formação de objetos. O plástico considerado de difícil decomposição e utilidade. Vidro e o metal aparecem para transformação de objetos úteis. (II) importância da reciclagem (14,28%), sendo registradas as evocações: sobrevivência, homem, ajuda e preservar. O homem sendo percebido em termos de tomada de consciência para a preservação da natureza e do que essa pode ofertar para o humano; sobrevivência, a reciclagem para obtenção do alimento; ajuda essa no sentido de que os seres humanos precisam ajudar o meio ambiente. Preservar refere-se a proteger e não destruir para que a natureza não dê o retorno. Conclui-se que existe uma incorporação do discurso circulante quanto à importância da reciclagem, em termos dos benefícios que ela pode dar como na construção de objetos materiais, para sua vida cotidiana e como fonte de renda; para a proteção do meio ambiente, da natureza; e que essa reciclagem deve ser transformada em experiência social
