Throughout its history, social work has faced difficulties in involving the populations with which it works in the different stages of social intervention programs, from diagnosis to evaluation, including the goal that they themselves come to be in charge of their own social problems. Participatory action research (PAR) has been one of the resources that have been using to pursue these objectives. This paper proposes to incorporate metaphorical analysis into this type of research. We argue that its use facilitates the participation of populations in the generation of knowled- ge through the diagnosis of problems, the design of strategies to face them and a continuous evaluation of action-research processes. We maintain that in this way can be achieved the training and empowerment of people in order that they take in their hands their own development. The work will address the characteristics of participatory action research and of metaphorical analysis to propose how they can be related to achieve a social intervention that incorporates populations in the process and empowers them in the same move
A lo largo de su historia, el trabajo social ha enfrentado dificultades para involucrar a las poblaciones con las que trabaja en las diferentes etapas de los programas de intervención social, desde el diagnóstico hasta la evaluación, incluyendo la meta de que ellas mismas lleguen a hacerse cargo de sus procesos y problemáticas sociales. La investigación-acción participativa (IAP) ha sido uno de los recursos que se han empleado para perseguir esos objetivos. Este trabajo hace la propuesta de incorporar el análisis metafórico a ese tipo de investigación, argumentando que su empleo facilita la participación de las poblaciones en la generación de conocimientos por medio del diagnóstico de las problemáticas, el diseño de estrategias con miras a enfrentarlas y la evaluación continua de los procesos, logrando así capacitarse y empoderarse para tomar en sus manos la gestión de su propio desarrollo. El trabajo abordará las características de la IAP y las del análisis metafórico para proponer cómo se pueden relacionar a fin de conseguir una intervención social que incorpore a las poblaciones en el proceso y al mismo tiempo las empodere
