Ephemeral interventions emerged in the 1990s in specific locations constitute a tiny minority of all public art projects (ephemeral and permanent) conducted in the Madrid Metropolitan Area; however, it could be argued that this kind of art is the most recent and innovative, and it contributes more to the development of the concept of public art. Arts programs as "Capital Confort", "Acción!MAD", "La Noches en Blanco" or "Madrid Abierto", embrace such interventions (artistic installations or performance art) all of which have in common that they have been conceived as "site-specific", incorporating urban space as part of the work carried out "in situ" and seeking to create an active relationship with citizens by their presence, interaction and participation, creating new ways to experience, feel, perceive and interact between artists, city and citizens
De todos los proyectos de arte público (efímeros y permanentes) realizados en el Área Metropolitana de Madrid, las intervenciones efímeras en lugares específicos, surgidas en los años 1990, constituyen la menor parte; sin embargo, es la parte más reciente e innovadora, y que más contribuye al desarrollo del concepto de arte público. Programas artísticos como "Capital Confort", "Acción!MAD", "La Noches en Blanco" o "Madrid Abierto", integran este tipo de intervenciones (instalaciones artísticas o arte de acción) que tienen en común haber sido concebidas bajo los conceptos: "site-specific" incorporando el espacio urbano como parte integrante de la obra, desarrolladas "in situ", y buscando generar una relación activa con los ciudadanos mediante su presencia, interacción o participación; creando nuevas formas de experimentar, sentir, percibir e interactuar entre artistas, ciudad y ciudadanía
