The Tlatelolco Massacre -October 2 1968- represented theunrepairable rupture of the Revolution's nationalism and the ideologyrepresented by the PRI's government. Focusing in La noche de Tlatelolco byElena Poniatowska, this essay will aim to analyze a fraction of the reportsand non-fiction texts that tried to narrate the Massacre, to understand how arefreshed teen age rhetoric confronted the official paternalist and reactionaryideology; as well as analyzing the importance of this new expressive style inthe process of a complete renovation of literary language and generic forms.The first part of this essay will analyze the symbolic construction of mother& son's relation that is assumed in La noche de Tlatelolco to appropriate andturn around the paternalist government's speech. In the second part, we willcompare the generic patterns of essay and report to determine which non-fiction general elements where useful to the construction of a popular complaint's alternative speech
Resumen: La Masacre de Tlatelolco, acaecida el 2 de octubre de 1968, fue la manifestación brutal para el pueblo mexicano de que la retórica nacionalista y unívoca construida por la Revolución y su correlato en el gobierno del PRI estaba irremediablemente rota. Haciendo foco en La noche de Tlatelolco de Elena Poniatowska, este trabajo se propone realizar un recorrido por algunos de los ensayos y crónicas que buscaron dar cuenta de la Masacre, para atender ante todo al modo en que al discurso oficial paternalista y conservador se opuso una renovada retórica juvenilista, ante y a partir de la cual algunos cronistas emprendieron innovaciones genéricas del lenguaje literario. En la primera sección, analizaremos La noche de Tlatelolco a partir de la construcción simbólica de la relación madre-hijo que se trama en los testimonios como estrategia para la apropiación e inversión de la retórica paternalista del poder. En la segunda sección, compararemos las modalidades genéricas del ensayo y la crónica-testimonio con el fin de establecer qué características de la no-ficción tal como la ensaya Poniatowska fueron instrumentales a la construcción discursiva antiestatal del reclamo popular.
