Este artículo pasa revista a la fortuna de la novela corta del Barroco en el cine y la televisión desde el nacimiento del séptimo arte. A partir de las adaptaciones inspiradas por el Decamerón (1352) de Boccaccio, padre de la novella moderna, se ofrece información detallada sobre los traslados a la pantalla de dieciséis relatos de estas colecciones. Se prestará particular atención a las Novelas ejemplares (1613) de Cervantes. Los dos últimos bloques giran alrededor de El curioso impertinente, relato interpolado en el primer Quijote (1605), que interesó a los cineastas desde fechas tempranas; y a los de otros narradores de la Edad de Oro (Salas Barbadillo, Castillo Solórzano, Lope de Vega y María de Zayas) convertidos en material televisivo gracias al auge de las series literarias durante el tardofranquismo y la Transición
This paper looks over the fortune of the Baroque Short Novel on screen from the invention of the cinematographer. Departing from adaptations inspired by Boccaccio's Decameron (1352), father of the modern novella, detailed information is given about the translation of sixteen of these tales to the screen. Special attention will be paid to Cervantes's Exemplary Novels (1613). The two latter sections deal with The Impertinent Curious Man, a story included in the first part of Don Quixote (1605) that attracted filmmakers from early on; and with the other Golden Age narrators (Salas Barbadillo, Castillo Solórzano, Lope de Vega y María de Zayas) whose works became TV material thanks to the rise of literary serials during late Francoism and the Spanish Transition
