This article addresses the aboriginal past of the Canary Islands and its interpretation from colonialism through the father of Canarian literature, Bartolomé Cairasco de Figueroa and his work Comedia del Recibimiento (1582). The author uses the character of Doramas, an aboriginal leader who fought in the conquest of the island of Gran Canaria, to receive the new bishop of the Cathedral of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Fernando de Rueda. Through this choice, the author captures his impressions of the island's landscape, history and culture before the arrival of the Catholic Monarchs
El presente estudio aborda el pasado aborigen de las Islas Canarias y su interpretación desde el colonialismo a través del padre de la literatura canaria, Bartolomé Cairasco de Figueroa y de su obra Comedia del Recibimiento (1582). El autor se vale de la figura de Doramas, caudillo aborigen que luchó en la conquista de la isla de Gran Canaria, para recibir al nuevo obispo de la Catedral de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Fernando de Rueda. A través de dicha elección, el autor plasma sus impresiones sobre el paisaje, la historia y la cultura isleña antes de la llegada de los Reyes Católicos
