In this paper we would like to underline the special interdependence that exists between history and literature in the current Mozambican narrative. There are many writers who take History as a starting point for their work. Do Mozambicans writers feel the need to count the facts that make the pages of their own history? Has it been converted into an obligation? Nonetheless, in some works of writers like Pauline Chiziane, Mia Couto or Ungulani Ba Ka Khosa, history is the basis of their narratives. However, not all see history in the same way: some are concerned with the History with a capital letter, for others the goal is to show the history with minuscule. But often, the road goes by the "story"
Neste trabalho pretende-se mostrar a especial interdependência que existe entre a história e a literatura na narrativa actual moçambicana. São muitos os escritores que exploram nas suas obras a história como ponto de partida. Será que os escritores moçambicanos sentem a necessidade de contar os factos que constroem as páginas da sua própria história? Isto ter-se-á convertido numa obrigação? Seja como for, nalgumas obras de escritores como Paulina Chiziane, Mia Couto ou Ungulani Ba Ka Khosa, a história está na base das suas narrativas. No entanto, nem todos usam a história da mesma maneira: alguns interessam-se pela História com maiúscula; para outros, o objectivo é mostrar a história com minúscula. Porém, frequentemente, o caminho passa pela "estória"
