'Una armada figuraron que venía': Lepanto como écfrasis en "Los baños de Argel"

This paper studies the use of ekphrasis in a passage of Cervantes' "Los baños de Argel". It is argued that the primary function of this artistic device in the play is to remember the famous war event and thus indirectly suggest an armed action against Algiers by the government of Madrid

Este artículo estudia el uso de la écfrasis en un pasaje de "Los baños de Argel" de Cervantes. Se arguye que la principal función de dicho procedimiento artístico en la obra es rememorar el famoso evento bélico y sugerir así de manera indirecta una acción armada contra Argel por parte del gobierno de Madrid
