Convergencias y divergencia...
The objective of this work is to study the convergences and divergences between Epicureanism and early Christianity, since they participate in the same Hellenistic cultural world. Our claim is to limit ourselves to the Christianity of the first century, more specifically, to the writings of Saint Paul. However, as Epicureanism extends from the fourth century BC., until the third century AD., we will make inevitably several references to the Church Fathers of the second and third century, which directly refer to Epicureanism. At first, we will study the differences between Epicureanism and Christianity, since there are aspects of Epicurean teachings that are unacceptable to Christianity. Next, we will analyze the similarities of Epicureanism with early Christianity. And we will see that some matters of the Epicurean teachings have common elements with Christianity or that certain affinities can be found. We will focus on this aspect that perhaps due to anti-epicurean propaganda has been ignored or has been more obscured throughout history
El objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar las convergencias y las divergencias entre el epicureísmo y el cristianismo primitivo, ya que participan del mismo mundo cultural helenístico. Nuestra pretensión es circunscribirnos al cristianismo del siglo I, más en concreto, a los escritos de San Pablo. Sin embargo, como el epicureísmo se extiende desde el siglo IV a. C. hasta el siglo III d. C., tendremos que hacer inevitablemente varias referencias a los Padres de la Iglesia de los siglos II y III d. C., que de manera directa se refieren al epicureísmo. En un primer momento, estudiaremos las divergencias entre el epicureísmo y el cristianismo, pues hay aspectos de las enseñanzas epicúreas inaceptables para el cristianismo. A continuación, analizaremos las semejanzas del epicureísmo con el cristianismo primitivo. Y veremos que algunos aspectos de las enseñanzas epicúreas tienen elementos comunes con el cristianismo o que se pueden encontrar ciertas afinidades. Nos concentraremos en este aspecto que tal vez debido a la propaganda antiepicúrea se haya ignorado o haya quedado más obscurecido a lo largo de la historia
