Ecos de sociedad en las 'Ba...
We analyse the little-known work by Gonzalo Fernández de Oviedo, Batallas y quinquagenas, and more specifically what has been published (namely, 132 dialogues), almost all of which refer to the second battle. In this, he deals with cases of nobles whose lives ended disastrously or who had the saddest of destinies. We study the form of the dialogue, the influence of Erasmus, and the relationship between this work and the Historia general y natural de las Indias, the differences in tone between one and the other, the most striking narrative resources and the author's ideas. Likewise, the study of certain cases that Oviedo details shows Batallas y quinquagenas to be an interesting tableau of society that sheds light on the period and on the morals of the Spanish nobility in the 16th and 17th centuries
En el siguiente trabajo, analizamos la obra poco conocida de Gonzalo Fernández de Oviedo, Batallas y quinquagenas, y más concretamente los 132 diálogos que se han editado, casi todos pertenecientes a la segunda batalla. En esta, Oviedo trata de casos de nobles personajes que habían terminado sus vidas con muertes desastradas o que habían tenido el más triste destino. Analizamos la forma del diálogo, por influencia del erasmismo, la relación que existe entre dicha obra y la Historia general y natural de las Indias, las diferencias de tono entre una y otra, los recursos narrativos más destacados y las ideas del autor. Asimismo, el estudio de ciertos casos que detalla Oviedo nos lleva a defender que las Batallas y quinquagenas son un retablo de sociedad interesante para conocer la época y la moral en la que vivía la nobleza española en los siglos XVI y XVII
