This paper will discuss the ways in which the discourses and practices associated with Kardecian spiritism -mediumness, reincarnation, transmigration of souls, automatic writing...- influence the literary work of José Martí (1853-1895), specifically his poetry. To verify this, in addition to the textual analyzes themselves and their comparison with the doctrines of The Book of Spirits (Kardec, 1857), some passages from the time in which Martí lived in Mexico, where he participated in debates about materialism and spiritualism, as well as some of his later reflections on the phantasmagorias present in technological inventions of the 19th century, such as the phonograph, will be reviewed. Finally, it will be tried to demonstrate that through the use of spiritual elements and statements, in addition to (self) legitimizing himself as a social authority in his role as a modern poet, Martí gives textual form to his own visions of the subjective and the invisible
En este trabajo se analizan algunas de las formas en que los discursos y prácticas asociadas al espiritismo kardeciano -mediumnidad, reencarnación, transmigración de las almas, escritura automática...- se vinculan con la obra literaria de José Martí (1853-1895), específicamente con su poesía. Para comprobarlo, además de los propios análisis textuales y su comparación con las doctrinas expuestas por Allan Kardec en obras como El libro de los espíritus (1857), se revisarán algunos pasajes del tiempo en que Martí vivió en México, lugar donde participó en debates sobre materialismo y espiritualismo, así como algunas de sus reflexiones posteriores sobre las fantasmagorías presentes en invenciones tecnológicas del siglo XIX, como el fonógrafo. Finalmente, se intentará demostrar que a través del empleo de elementos y enunciados espirituales, además de (auto)legitimarse como autoridad social en su rol de poeta moderno, Martí da forma textual a sus propias visiones sobre lo subjetivo y lo invisible
