Every year there are women who serve their sentences in prisons spread throughout the country. For them, the justice administration bodies have resolved that the most appropriate sanction to compensate for the crime committed is to restrict free movement in society. During this period, the prison becomes the place they inhabit on a daily basis, living together, learning and resisting in various scenarios, building a micro-society surrounded by bars.This article is part of the results of a research work of the Diploma in Migrations of the University of Santiago de Chile, whose work sought to carry out a qualitative analysis and a brief characterization of the experiences of five women interviewed at the end of 2019, whose a common characteristic was being migrants and being, at the time of the interviews, serving a sentence in the Women's Penitentiary Center of Santiago. In this way, the present study exhibits the discourses present behind bars, in order to get closer to knowing how the women protagonists of these experiences experience their stay in a Chilean prison, what social and gender aspects influenced their incursion of crime, with what do they dream of at the end of their sentence and, also, with what legal limitations they find themselves in Chile according to their perspective. Finally, it encourages debate and discussion regarding the Chilean collective imagination regarding migration and crime in our society, which is often devoid of a rights approach and the potential to look at the migration phenomenon from a gender perspective, which constitutes a challenge in itself for the elaboration of media resources, public policies and police approach
Cada año hay mujeres que cumplen su condena en recintos penitenciarios extendidos a lo largo del país. Para ellas, los organismos de administración de justicia han resuelto que la sanción más idónea para compensar el delito cometido es coartar el libre tránsito en la sociedad. Durante ese período, la cárcel se transforma en el lugar que habitan de forma diaria, conviviendo, aprendiendo y resistiendo en diversos escenarios, edificando una micro sociedad en medio de los barrotes. Este estudio se enmarca dentro de los resultados de un trabajo investigativo del Diploma en Migraciones de la Universidad de Santiago de Chile, cuya investigación buscó realizar un análisis cualitativo y una breve caracterización de las experiencias provenientes de cinco mujeres entrevistadas a fines del año 2019, cuya característica en común fue ser migrantes y encontrarse, al momento de las entrevistas, cumpliendo condena en el Centro Penitenciario Femenino de Santiago. De esta manera, el presente estudio exhibe los discursos presentes tras las rejas, de manera de aproximarse a conocer cómo las mujeres protagonistas de esas experiencias vivencian su permanencia en una cárcel chilena, qué aspectos sociales y de género influyeron en su incursión del delito, con qué sueñan al término de su condena y, también, con qué limitantes legales se encuentran en Chile según su perspectiva. Finalmente, incita al debate y discusión respecto del imaginario colectivo chileno respecto de la migración y delincuencia en nuestra sociedad, el cual muchas veces está desprovisto de enfoque de derechos, y también acerca de la potencialidad de mirar el fenómeno migratorio con perspectiva de género, la que constituye un desafío en sí mismo para la elaboración de recursos mediáticos, políticas públicas y abordaje policial
