'Lo curatorial' latinoameri...
Some guidelines are presented to reflect on the category 'Latin American art', delving into its artistic discourses, practices and policies in the curatorial field. It seeks to understand how this term -its operation within associations, documentation centers and exhibitions- can have repercussions and make a difference in curatorial practice. Based on the book Curaduría de Latinoamérica, by Juan José Santos Mateo, which describes the most relevant art exhibitions in the history of Latin American curatorship, an attempt is made to account for that particular way of curing by appealing to a stamp of politicized identity. The objectives of the work are, first, to describe how discourses, practices and policies are managed in the field of Latin American art; second, delimit the curatorial field, presenting different exhibition experien-ces; and, finally, to analyze if it is possible to manage another curatorship linked to the expansion of the territory that, rather than limiting the space, transcends it.Keywords: art criticism; art history; contemporary art; Latin American art; visual arts; cultural property presentation; art collections; exhibitions
Se presentan algunas pautas para reflexionar en torno a la categoría 'arte latinoamericano', indagando en sus discursos, prácticas y políticas artísticas en el ámbito curatorial. Se busca comprender cómo dicho término -su funcionamiento al interior de asociaciones, centros de documentación y exposiciones- puede repercutir y marcar una diferencia en la práctica curatorial. Con base en el libro Curaduría de Latinoamérica, de Juan José Santos Mateo, que describe las exposiciones de arte más relevantes en la historia de la curaduría latinoamericana, se intenta dar cuenta de esa particular forma de curar apelando a un sello de identidad politizada. Los objetivos del trabajo son, primero, describir cómo se gestionan en el ámbito del arte latinoamericano los discursos, las prácticas y las políticas; segundo, delimitar el campo curatorial, presentando distintas experiencias expositivas; y, finalmente, analizar si es posible gestionar otra curaduría vinculada a la expansión del territorio que más que limitar el espacio lo trascienda
