1535: El taller de la sacri...
In November 1534, the stonemasonry workshop that was carrying out the work on the Main Sacristy of Seville Cathedral was immersed in a phase of uncertainty following the death of the main master, Diego de Riaño. The recent appearance of some payrolls, including one from the year 1535, has allowed us to delve into this stage of the construction to gain a better understanding of the composition and functioning of the workshop, as well as the development of the works at that time. For this reason, the present article offers a more clarifying reading of the evolution of the workshop, which was directed by Martín de Gaínza after the death of the master Riaño, and contributes new analyses and data to the still active debate on the authorship of the sacristy
En noviembre de 1534, el taller de cantería que ejecutaba las obras de la Sacristía Mayor de la Catedral de Sevilla se vio inmerso en una fase de cierta incertidumbre tras el fallecimiento del maestro mayor, Diego de Riaño. La reciente aparición de unas nóminas, entre las que se encuentra una del año 1535, nos ha permitido adentrarnos en esta etapa de la construcción para conocer mejor la composición y funcionamiento del taller, así como el desarrollo que habían alcanzado las obras por aquellas fechas. Por ello, el presente artículo ofrece una lectura más clarificadora acerca del devenir que experimentó el taller, que quedaría en manos de Martín de Gaínza a la muerte del maestro Riaño, y aporta nuevos análisis y datos al debate aún candente sobre la autoría de la sacristía
