In March 1544 a great tournament organized by the Admiral of Castile, Luis Enríquez, will take place in Valladolid to entertain Prince Philip and Princess Maria Manuela of Portugal. Inspired by the deeds of chivalric books, the symbolic elements exhibited and the complexity of its scenery make it a unique celebration. Unpublished documentary sources allow us to delve into the iconography of power, the image of princes and their ritual and ceremonial implications of the courtly and festive environment of the sixteenth century

En marzo de 1544 tendrá lugar en Valladolid un gran torneo organizado por el almirante de Castilla, Luis Enríquez, para agasajar al príncipe Felipe y a la princesa María Manuela de Portugal. Inspirado en las gestas de los libros de caballerías, los elementos simbólicos exhibidos y la complejidad de su escenografía lo convierten en un singular festejo. Fuentes documentales inéditas permiten profundizar en la iconografía del poder, la imagen de los príncipes y sus implicaciones rituales y ceremoniales del ámbito cortesano y festivo del siglo XVI
