"Malta, then Turkey, and then Portugal: we have now bracketed the Mediterranean with this third international multidisciplinary conference on Archaeoacoustics. Building on foundations cited elsewhere in this book, a risky idea took hold a few years ago. What if we reversed the traditional conventions of specialization and brought together people from a range of professional viewpoints to look at the subject of archaeoacoustics on an international scale? Obviously, it was effective. It has been said that these three conferences have facilitated a fresh blossoming of interest. More people than ever before are pursuing the study of the human experience of sound in antiquity. The fresh perspective and fervent voices that we have witnessed hint at an increasing respect for the fact that the ancient world was not silent. Hearty congratulations to all who have been on the journey with us." (página 5)
